Hello.
If you would like photos of you and your family in Victorian costume against a tasteful backdrop, or some of your newborn in a sheepskin-lined wicker basket, or an image of you and your kids jumping into the air and laughing, or that jumping photo with the background black and white and your family picked out in colour, this is not the place.
As a documentary photographer, my approach to taking family photos is about capturing vibrant, cheese-free, natural images of families enjoying one another’s company in the environments they feel most comfortable in. Often this is out in nature, where the kids can run around, or, in the case of very small children and newborns, it can be in the family home.
To get the most natural photos of your family, I find it best to let the kids be kids, let them relax, and have things evolve from there. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s anarchy. I’ll gently suggest ideas as they come up, or get you into position, but there’ll be no formal posing.
Wherever we decide to take your photos, you can rest assured that I’ll be giving you a collection of memories you will cherish for years to come.

It’s $550 + taxes, all-inclusive: that is, the photography and photo-editing.
It includes all the consultation to get the shoot set up, up to 2 hours of photography, plus the post-production of the images in the days after your photo session.
I don’t, and to be honest I don’t intend to (and not just because of covid). In my opinion, taking family photos is best done outdoors, somewhere kids can run around. Of course, with younger children and newborns we can do the shoot in your home, and with kids of any age, we can do a mixture of indoors at home and somewhere outside. It’s up to you.
Early morning or during the two hours or so before sunset (‘Golden Hour’), are best. If that fits in with your family, then great, otherwise, you know your family better than me, so you know what times in the day they’re at their best. I have two kids myself, so I know the challenges. We can fit the session into your schedule.
As for the best time of year, well, any time really (although I haven’t been in Canada long, so I may change my mind about winter photoshoots). One of the best times of year though, has to be Fall. It’s not too hot or cold, and the autumn colours make for stunning images.
From 30 professionally-retouched images upwards.
Two weeks after the shoot, I’ll send you your images in a private gallery.
“OHHH we just looked at the photos and they are amazing!!! I absolutely love how you captured us and especially little Evie.” – Lindsay
